65 profiles

Gil Kane, the artist and co-creator of DC Comics'  The Green Lantern and The Atom who also went on to illustrate Conan the Barbarian and John Carter of Mars, drew human anatomy flawlessly. He began each work day by drawing one hundred heads. With such a regimen it's little wonder he was a master of the form.

I make no pretense of being anywhere close to Kane's ability, but putting his work habits to practice can only help the aspiring artist. Here, then, are some faces drawn over this morning's coffee:

  1. Great idea. I could use some work on this as well. I actually find females the most difficult for me to draw so I'm going to do a series of studies on female faces, hands, etc.
